Holiday Shopping : Jess' Holiday Shopping Guide (Part the first)

I hate to start out this series by saying, “It’s that time of the year again”, but, well, it’s that time of the year again. The sun’s setting a little sooner, the air’s a little (or, if you’re in Canada like me, a lot) nippier, and strings of lights are finding their way into trees across cities everywhere. Ah, yes, the holiday season is upon us. And this can only mean one thing: religious celebration, time with loved ones, snow, exams, a new fiscal year, shopping. If you’re like me, your Christmas list consists of many people with a variety of styles and tastes. You could never shop at the same store for your edgy friend Raven as you would your dear old mum, nor would your coworker Mary appreciate the same golf paraphernalia you intended for your father. With malls becoming more crowded by the hour, and a parking space near an entrance now equated with the holy grail, your holiday shopping has quickly turned from a pleasure run into a daunting task. Never fear, dear reader. Never fear. In this guide, you will encounter not only unparalleled wit and charm, but also a how-to on surviving the holiday shopping madness. Take advantage of this while you can, because as of boxing day, you’re on your own. Continue reading! |

Tonight on Lifetime TV, a new reality competition show, BLUSH: The Search for the Next Great Makeup Artist, premiered. Blush: The Search For The Next Great Makeup Artist on LIFETIME
Description: Lifetime’s new reality competition series, "Blush: The Search for the Next Great Makeup Artist," will premiere Tuesday, November 11, from 10 pm to 11 pm et/pt. In the hour-long, six-episode series, contestants from around the country will compete for a contract as a professional artist with Max Factor, a cash prize of $100,000 and the opportunity to be the makeup artist for an upcoming InStyle photo shoot.
I don't know how I didn't know about this, but I found out about it earlier today reading one of the many cosmetic communities that I read on a daily basis, and accidently stumbled upon it just as it was starting, while flipping channels tonight on the boob tube. So of course, I watched it.. While I was not impressed with what the contestants did the first episode, I will probably continue to watch for the rest of the season. Hopefully they will do better and will give me and other guys & girls inspiration. :) I guess I can't blame them for the first challenge they had to take in the first episode, seeing as they were given a BUFFET OF FOOD, to use as their makeup.
For the second challenge, I don't think any of them really got the idea of "twisted disco". I didn't really see any twisted disco looks going on with the finished project. When I heard the term "twisted disco", I thought of gold shimmer and glitter all over. If I had done it..My model would've been a total shimmery disco ball by the time I was done with her. :)
I look forward to upcoming episodes, hopefully they're better than the first one. :)
Oh, and I did not like Maxi from the start. But I suppose every show needs to have a nut job on it!
